MEGHAN DATEMA
| Welcome to the Family Coach Meghan!We are so excited to have Meghan as part of our MLXA family! Get to know our MLXA Director of Coaching from our Q&A session below! Q: What do you love about lacrosse? A: Since the 6th grade, lacrosse has always been a love of mine. I first picked up the sport playing with my brother in the front yard and I was ecstatic when I could join my first team at age 12. I love the fast pace of the game and the competitiveness! Overall, the best part about lacrosse for me has been all of the friendships I have made over the years through various teams. Q: Why do you coach? A: I coach because I love to see the excitement and development of young athletes! I love staying involved in the lacrosse community and having the opportunity to influence young athletes. Q: Your favorite memory as an athlete? A: My favorite memories as an athlete comes from my time playing at GVSU, the first time we beat a ranked opponent and received a bid to the NCAA tournament. Q: Your favorite memory as a coach? A: My favorite coaching memory is winning the state championship as an assistant coach with Rockford Girls Varsity Lacrosse! It was great to be back at my alma mater and have the chance to give back to the school and coaches that gave me an amazing high school lacrosse experience. Q: What is your advice for athletes? A: My advice for athletes is to enjoy every second you have on the field and take nothing for granted! Don't just go through the motions - take every opportunity to better yourself as an athlete and a person but don't forget to enjoy yourself and have some fun while doing so! Q: What are you most looking forward to? A: I look forward to meeting each player and getting to know them at an individual level! For me, coaching travel brings back great memories from my own travel lacrosse days. |
