MBA ACQUIRES LAKESHORE ELITE AND STARTS LAKESHORE PROGRAMMING

Michigan Basketball Academy (MBA) is proud to announce the acquisition of lakeshore basketball program, Lakeshore Elite. Lakeshore Elite will become Michigan Basketball Academy - Lakeshore effective immediately and will operate out of the Lakeshore Athletic Center north of Holland. This will provide new and exciting opportunities to serve athletes on the lakeshore.

MBA Director Bryan Powell says, “We are really excited to be working out there with the former Lakeshore Elite staff. It is exciting to offer these opportunities to a new area of student-athletes both from the youth to high school.”

Derek Weenum from the Lakeshore Athletic Center says, “Any relationship, big or small, works best when there is a shared and common goal.  Our goals and perspectives align perfectly with that of MBA.  That is why we could not be more excited to enter this relationship. This will allow both of us to bring out the best of our talents and strengths going forward."

Kris Haglund who has been heavily involved with training/basketball development on the Lakeshore states, “One of the most exciting things for me as a coach is to get the chance to meet more players and develop positive relationships with them. The opportunity to use basketball to teach life lessons that players can bring into their communities is impactful for years to come. Lakeshore Players and families will also benefit from having more exposure due to the MBA’s developed relationships with college coaches and other AAU programs.”

MSA is the home of four competitive sports programs with three state of the art facilities throughout Grand Rapids. MSA works to train athletes for the level they want to achieve. This has driven MSA to develop programming with a focus on individual skill development. Playing sports is an excellent avenue to teach moral principles and characteristics such as dedication, teamwork, discipline, self-confidence, and sportsmanship. These goals are the foundation of Michigan Sports Academies.
