Michigan Basketball Academy (MBA) is proud to announce the acquisition of Grand Rapids AAU basketball mainstay, Storm Basketball. Effective immediately, Jason Martin will join MBA as the Boys Basketball Director, and Storm Basketball teams will compete under the MBA umbrella. Jason brings 29 years of experience as the director of Storm Basketball and has worked tirelessly to grow the sport of basketball in West Michigan and turn Storm Basketball into a household name in the basketball community.

The merger between MBA and Storm will provide new and exciting opportunities to serve all basketball athletes in the greater Grand Rapids area and beyond. MSA Executive Director Sam Nichols says, “We are excited to add Jason Martin and his Storm Basketball family to MBA. Jason brings a proven track record for developing competitive basketball teams that compete at a high level. We look forward to partnering with Jason and his team to grow and elevate boys’ basketball here in West Michigan.”

From Storm Basketball Director Jason Martin: “For nearly a decade I have had the opportunity to compete with and over time develop relationships with the administrators and staff at MBA. As time progressed, I saw the value in our programs working together. When Sam and the team at MBA approached me, I was excited about the opportunities we could create in West Michigan with our combined resources. I am grateful for the Storm families who have put so much time and effort into making the program successful, and I look forward to how the Storm and MBA families will work together. I am excited for this new chapter.”

Michigan Sports Academies (MSA) is the home of four competitive sports programs with four state of the art facilities throughout West Michigan and serves athletes in the greater Grand Rapids, Holland, and Muskegon areas. MSA works to train athletes for the level they want to achieve. This has driven MSA to develop programming with a focus on individual skill development. Playing sports is an excellent avenue to teach moral principles and characteristics such as dedication, teamwork, discipline, self- confidence, and sportsmanship.
