Michigan Volleyball Academy Coaches Honored as Leaders, Shaping the Future of Volleyball and Its Athletes

Grand Rapids, MI – Michigan Volleyball Academy (MVA) is proud to announce that three of its exceptional coaches and former players have been recognized with the prestigious AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) "30 Under 30" Award. Jessica Vredevoogd for Club Volleyball, Dylynn Otte for Beach Volleyball, and Kenzie Brinkman (Crawford) for Collegiate Volleyball have earned this national honor, underscoring their significant contributions to the sport and their commitment to fostering responsibility, sportsmanship, and leadership among the athletes they coach.

The AVCA "30 Under 30" Award celebrates top young coaches nationwide who exhibit extraordinary leadership, dedication, and success in their sport before the age of 30. Jessica, Dylynn, and Kenzie exemplify the excellence and passion that define the coaching philosophy at MVA.

Meet the Award-Winning Coaches

Jessica Vredevoogd received recognition for her work in Club Volleyball. A former standout at Oakland University, Jessica went on to play professionally in Spain, bringing her high-level experience to her coaching role at MVA.

Dylynn Otte, awarded for her achievements in Beach Volleyball, was a four-year indoor player and two-year captain at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIU Edwardsville) from 2016-19. She later pursued a graduate season in beach volleyball at UAB in 2020, continuing to inspire and lead young athletes in the sport.

Kenzie Brinkman (Crawford) earned her accolade for Collegiate Volleyball. As a former setter for the nationally ranked Creighton Bluejays, Kenzie gained a deep tactical understanding of the game. After Creighton, she served as a Graduate Assistant at Nebraska-Kearney, an Assistant Coach at the United States Military Academy, and is now the top assistant coach at Ohio University.

A Legacy of Excellence and Responsibility

These three coaches join previous AVCA 30 Under 30 award recipients, Ryan Campbell and Abby Aiken, in continuing to build a tradition of excellence at Michigan Volleyball Academy.

“These awards reflect the caliber of coaches we have at Michigan Volleyball Academy,” said Mayme Vlietstra, Athletic Director of Michigan Sports Academies. “More importantly, they highlight the responsibility, leadership, and integrity that our coaches strive to instill in every athlete they work with. We are incredibly proud of Jessica, Dylynn, and Kenzie for this well-deserved recognition.”

At MVA, the focus goes beyond athletic development, promoting personal growth and preparing athletes to succeed both on and off the court. By fostering leadership and accountability, MVA is building responsible athletes ready for life beyond volleyball.
