MVA ADDS LAKESHORE ELITE VOLLEYBALL TO NEW LAKESHORE PROGRAM

On the heels of announcing the acquisition of Pi Volleyball and the lakeshore volleyball program, Michigan Volleyball Academy (MVA) is excited to share that will also be bringing Lakeshore Elite Volleyball into the fold. Lakeshore Elite Volleyball, which previously operated out of Holland West Ottawa, will become Michigan Volleyball Academy - Lakeshore effective immediately and will operate out of the Lake Shore Athletic Complex north of Holland. Cortney Naber, who is currently the head coach of West Ottawa High School’s varsity team, will join the MVA Lakeshore team as the Lakeshore Assistant Director.

Cortney comes to MVA after years of playing and coaching experience across West Michigan. A 2003 West Ottawa Graduate, Cortney was part of the Grand Valley National Championship (2005) team during her time with the Lakers. Since then, she has coached at the middle school and high school level for the past 14 years, with the past 8 years serving as the Head Coach at West Ottawa in Holland (MI).

MSA Director Sam Nichols says, “As a former West Ottawa coach myself, I know firsthand how effective Cortney is on and off the court. She brings passion to build up the sport and more importantly the athletes that she cares for as part of her program. We are excited to partner with Cortney and Amy to grow our lakeshore programs for West Michigan families.”

MVA Lakeshore Assistant Director Cortney Naber says, "I've been waiting for there to be a competitive club option for the girls on the lakeshore within our area. I've seen firsthand how tough it is on families to not have the means nor resources to join a club an hour away. Players that are more centrally located seem to have the upper hand on club availability. We have a ton of talent along the lakeshore, and I'm beyond thrilled to be joining the team at MVA! I look forward to working with them to provide an exceptional club experience that focuses on developing the whole athlete.'

MSA is the home of four competitive sports programs with three state of the art facilities throughout Grand Rapids. MSA works to train athletes for the level they want to achieve. This has driven MSA to develop programming with a focus on individual skill development. Playing sports is an excellent avenue to teach moral principles and characteristics such as dedication, teamwork, discipline, self-confidence, and sportsmanship. These goals are the foundation of Michigan Sports Academies.
